CAN ANYONE change the name of his father after getting the job? Usually no! But this is exactly what is happening in the Lucknow Municipal Corporation. Why so? Just to get a job. Why so? Just to get a job.

A safai nayak Shailesh Kumar got the job after the death of his mother Munni (wife of Fakire) on the “humanitarian grounds” as deceased’s dependent. But, after a year, he changed his father’s name as Dilip Kumar.

Similarly, Anup Kumar got the job as safai worker after the death of his mother ‘Fahiman’ (daughter of Dulli). He mentioned his father’s name as Ashok Kumar ( leader of safai workers) thereafter. LMC sources say Ashok Kumar’s wife is fine and healthy. However, he faked information to get the job.

Five such cases detected in the safai workers and safai nayaks category, have shocked the municipal bosses. “These five safai workers were allegedly appointed on the basis of a false information. We feel there is a racket running in the department, which is helping people get the job as deceased’s dependent on forged documents,” said a higher official in the LMCs health department.

These cases came to light when a departmental promotion committee was constituted by the municipal commissioner, for the appointment of 48 safai nayaks on the directives of High Court. The committee went through the records of the employees and found the anomalies.

Additional municipal commissioner Santosh Kumar said, “It’s shocking if these things are happening in the department. In the cases of deceased’s dependent, we provide job on the sympathy ground. If people start taking advantage of this, we will have to plan hard rules.”

“Now when the cases have been detected, I will send a request for a high- level inquiry into the matter to municipal commissioner Ram Bodh Maurya. But I can assure you that if anyone is found appointed on forged documents and by furnishing false information, we will take strict action against him.”
