A trader who is the nephew of a former state minister was kidnapped in Bihar's Katihar district but police rescued him within eight hours and arrested his three abductors.

Rajesh Singh, the nephew of former minister Himraj Singh, was kidnapped at gunpoint from the Sanhaula railway crossing near Katihar at around 8.30 pm on Wednesday night when he was riding home on his motorcycle, police said.
Police swung into action after being alerted by witnesses and a team led by Superintendent of Police Manohar Prasad Singh closed in on the kidnappers near Hathiya Dalan village at 4.30 am on Thursday morning.
The kidnappers fired at the police but were overpowered and Singh was freed.
The three kidnappers were identified as Anil Singh, Alam and Abdul Hakim.
