Four killed, six injured in van-truck collision in Khargone

At least four people were killed and six others injured when a pick-up van (MP09-FG8437) carrying 10 farmers and a driver collided head on with a speedily-driven truck.
The incident occurred on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday near Bhikangaon, about 60 kilometres east of district headquarters on Khandwa-Baroda state highway.
The deceased were identified as Lalsingh (pick-up driver), Rahul, Jaisingh, all from Padiyagyasur village and one elderly citizen from Kolarit village of Khandwa district. Six critically injured have been admitted to Khargone district hospital.
A passerby, who was crossing the road at the time of the incident, was also injured. Soon after the accident, villagers rushed to the spot and started rescuing the passengers. Eyewitnesses said the truck driver was under the influence of alcohol.
As soon as news about the accident reached Khargone, Bhikangaon sub-divisional officer - police (SDOP) Karant Singh Rawat reached the spot.
Rs 55k stolen from bag
One of the injured farmers, Gangaram, alleged that somebody stole Rs 55,000 from his bag. He said he was returning from Bhikangaon Krishi Mandi after selling his soybean crop along with nine other farmers. Gangaram claimed that after the accident, he became unconscious and didn't know who stole his money.
