People would be given free entry to the prestigious Lata Mangeshkar award function to be held at Nehru Stadium. This is the first time in its 22-year history that the administration has taken such a decision.
Arrangements have been made to accommodate about 20,000 people at the stadium for the mega show. Large-scale preparations are underway for the three-day function beginning from May 5.
To be held at Ravindra Natya Grah from 4 pm, the first and second winners of division-level music contests held in all the seven divisions of the State will vie for the top slots. The May 5 contest will be held in the junior and senior category.
The first three winners in the music competition, aimed to trace fresh talents in the field of music, will be given citation and cash awards of Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. A booklet will be released on the occasion this year, which will contain photographs and brief introduction of previous winners. The judges for the contest will be from outside the State.
Next day that is on May 6, the winners will perform on the stage at Nehru Stadium and will be awarded after their performance.
Divisional Commissioner Ashok Das has delegated responsibilities to administrative officials for the programme. Indore Development Authority Chief Executive Officer C B Singh, Additional Collector Rameshwar Gupta and SDM
Chandramauli Shukla have been given charge of distributing passes while Municipal Commissioner Vinod Sharma will look after the arrangements at stadium like water supply, cleanliness, security provisions and barricading. Singh has been given the additional charge of supervising transportation and lodging arrangements of the artistes.
Sub Divisional Officer (revenue) Uma Shankar Bhargav and ASP Rajesh Hingankar will assist him. The latter has also been made in-charge of parking arrangement at the venue.
National Informatics Officer Sunita Jain has been given charge for music contest at Ravindra Natya Grah.
