Free power to win support

The centre will give a certain amount of power free to the project-affected people for 10 years, Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has said, reports Surojit Ghosh Hazra.

The centre will give a certain amount of power free to the project-affected people for 10 years, Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde has said.

For the forthcoming hydropower plants, the Centre has decided to provide 12 per cent free electricity to the state, 1 per cent to project-affected area, while affected people will get 100 units of power free for 10 years, he said.

Shinde was addressing a gathering while laying the stone of Kabiguru Industrial Training Centre. Local youths would be trained before starting projects to overcome resistance such plans were facing in different parts of the country, the minister said.
