The R12-crore console comprises 562 speakers. The sound system that took two and a half years to complete included 56 microphones.

As many as 8,800 pieces of fireworks, such as mines, comets and strobes, were used. “We also did the fireworks show in the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games,” said Andrew Howard, 31, the owner of the pyrotechnic firm that was given the contract for fireworks at the Games.

The 2,000-kg fireworks and other paraphernalia was imported from Australia. HTC
