Geelani had called for a bandh in Jammu and Kashmir in protest against the Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Palestine.

Police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were deployed outside Geelani's residence at Hyderpora since 5 am and asked him not to venture out, the sources added.

Meanwhile, life in Srinagar and other towns of the Valley was disrupted in response to the bandh call.

Shops and business establishments in Srinagar and other parts of the Valley remained closed while traffic on the roads was thin, the sources added.
