Motorbike team leader Captain K Sharma said their expedition was flagged off from Jammu & Kashmir on January 9. Enroute, they interacted with ex-servicemen and informed them about various welfare activities. An exhibition of communication apparatus used in warfare and a special air show will be held in this cantonment town during the 13th reunion of the Indian Army's Corps of Signals to mark 95 years of the unit's establishment.
Colonel V S Tomar and Colonel S K Relkar said yesterday that the airshow, microlite aerobatics and a scintillating display by the Indian Air Force’s Surya Kiran team would be part of the reunion to be inaugurated tomorrow. On February 14, Chief of Army Staff General Joginder Jaswant Singh would grace the proceedings.
“Lt Gen Davinder Kumar, who is senior Colonel Commandant of the Corps, will inaugurate the reunion early on February 13 and also inaugurate a Communications System-based Octagonal Museum, which is the first of its kind in Asia,” Col Tomar said.
Officers and men who earned special successes would be honoured and a jawans' passing out parade, besides a motorbike rally, were also on the agenda. The final day would witness a barakhana.
The Corps was raised with a signal company for each division and a nucleus of a wireless company for the line of communication.
