Ranked number one in the world, the European and World Cup champion was also a member of the Great Britain quartet that won gold at the 2003 World Team Championships. Harland is a strong medal prospect for Britain at Athens.
Harland excelled at the sport right away as she won her very first title in the first year as a pentathlete. She won a silver medal at the 1997 Junior World Championships.
She will be making her Olympic debut at the Athens. She was a reserve in Sydney four years ago when team-mates Stephanie Cook and Kate Allenby won gold and bronze respectively. But the 26-year-old is now ready to take a leading role as she and Allenby go in search of another medal double for Britain.
The combination of shooting, fencing, swimming, riding and running requires massive dedication and all round sporting ability for any modern pentathlete. Georgina thus has started her Olympics training to cover the diversity of skills and fitness required in the event. So there can be no stopping for the World number one who is determined to live up to her world number one ranking and claim the gold medal at the Athen Olympics.
