German rape case: Court calls for records from FTC

The Rajasthan High Court on Tuesday called for records from the Fast Track Court of Alwar in the case of rape of a German woman.

The Rajasthan High Court on Tuesday called for records from the Fast Track Court of Alwar in the case of rape of a German woman by a top Orissa official's son, B H Mohanti, convicted and sentenced to seven years rigorous imprisonment last week.

Admitting Mohanti's appeal, Justice KC Sharma sought the records in the matter and posted the matter for hearing but did not fix the date for the same.

The rape was committed on the intervening night of March 20-21 in a hotel in Alwar. The FTC, Alwar had sentenced Mohanti to seven years rigorous imprisonment on April 12 last.
