Get ready for telly's Jodee Kamaal Ki
The show will replace the now controversial KBC2 and will air on March 4.india Updated: Feb 10, 2006 14:14 IST
The last few weeks have seen plenty of brouhaha over KBC2. However, finally we can say that the show’s fate has been sealed. It is going to be replaced by a new one called Jodee Kamaal Ki on March 4.
Star Plus is, therefore, now pitted against itself to make Jodee Kamaal Ki work. Made by the makers of celebrity pair dance contest Nach Baliye, the show will bring on celebrity couples from all walks of life to participate in a game show that will test their compatibility. Jodee Kamaal Ki will, however, be aired only once a week.

KBC2 was aired between Friday and Sunday. With serials becoming five days a week, Friday will be taken care of. Films will take care of Sundays. The void in the 9 pm to 10 pm slot on Saturday is to be filled by Jodee Kamaal Ki.
The channel, probably sensing the gargantuan task of living up to audience expectations from a show that replaces KBC2, is steering clear of the possibility of any comparisons whatsoever.
Star Plus, therefore, is adamant that they are not replacing KBC2. “Replacing a show like KBC2 is absolutely impossible. A show like that doesn’t happen everyday. We are just introducing a new show to fill that slot. For us it is no big deal as some day KBC2 would have ended and we would have had to find a new show in its place anyway,” asserts Shailaja Kejriwal, senior creative director, Star Plus.
They have even been careful while choosing the anchor for the show. “We didn’t want a male anchor as it would draw comparisons with Big B. Also the format of Jodee Kamaal Ki required a vivacious female anchor and it didn’t take us too long to zero in on Rakshanda Khan,” she adds.
But isn’t the channel hoping to funnel viewers it had won over with KBC2 in that time slot? “Star Plus has been a pioneer in developing weekend viewership habits and we definitely hope to cash in on that with Jodee Kamaal Ki. And I’m sure that the people will be eager to tune in to this fun show,” replies Shailaja. Rakshanda is all excited about the show. “It is great fun to be part of such a show, which takes a fun look at relationships. On Jodee Kamaal Ki, we will deal with the word ‘couple’ in the broad sense of the term — married couples, mother-child duos etc. I enjoyed myself to the hilt while shooting for it,” says she. Is she pitted against Big B?
“The two shows are as different as purab and paschim. And to be worthy enough to be pitted against Big B will take me another lifetime,” comes her smart reply.
