IN A bid to discuss a common global plan for treatment of cancer, the Surgical Oncology Department at the Institute of Medical Sciences in BHU would organise a four-day international integrated meeting on ‘Evidence-based Treatment of Cancer’ from Thursday to September 24.

Talking to mediapersons here, head of Surgical Oncology Department IMS-BHU, Prof HS Shukla, said around 500 delegates from across various countries such as USA, England, Brazil, Italy and Russia, would participate in the meet and discuss treatment of cancer that is based on the current evidence of best results of treatment.
Prof Shukla, who is also chairman of the organising committee, said that the Chief of Medical Core of Indian Army, Dr BK Singh would inaugurate the meet on Thursday in the evening whereas the director of IMS-BHU, Prof Gajendra Singh would inaugurate the operating part of this programme.
Wide-range discussions will be held over various issues such as application of less surgery for more advantage to the patients that is now available in the name of minimal access surgery or key hole surgery, breast cancer and role and effect of cancer treatment before operation.
