Goa minister's son custody extended

Goa Education Minister Atanasio Monserratte's son Rohit, accused of raping a German teenager, would have to spend more days in jail as a court in Panaji extended his police custody till Monday.

Goa Education Minister Atanasio Monserratte's son Rohit, accused of raping a German teenager, would have to spend more days in jail as a court in Panaji on Friday extended his police custody till Monday.

Rohit was produced before Fast Track court and was granted three more days remand. His bail application too will be heard on Monday when remand expires.

The 21-year-old son of the minister has been accused of raping a 14-year-old German girl.

The girl's mother, in a complaint filed with Calangute Police, has charged Rohit with raped her daughter.

The complaint was filed on October 2 and police booked Rohit on October 14. Since then, he had gone into hiding and appeared on November 1. He was arrested on November 4.

Police have already conducted a medical examination on the girl which has confirmed the rape. The girl in her statement has also named Rohit.
