Good turnout expected in Rohtak
While long queues were seen in many polling booths in Hasangarh seat in Rohtak, polling in some booths was yet to pick up.
Braving the early morning chill people came out in large numbers to cast their ballot in Rohtak on Thursday.
Nearly 17 per cent of voting had been registered in Rohtak in the first two hours of the polling, district commissioner, AK Yadav said.
"A good turnout is expected as the day progresses," he said.
Though the DC claimed adequate security measures had been taken as per EC guidelines and voting was going on peacefully in the area, in some polling booths there was not a single policeman posted.
While long queues were seen in many polling booths in Hasangarh seat in Rohtak, polling in some booths was yet to pick up.
"People are flocking the booth in large numbers since early morning," said Ranvir Singh, a polling official outside booth number 67 in Hasangarh.
Women voters were particularly enthusiastic as they lined up holding their voter ID cards in long queues outside the booth.
"Women voters are coming right since the start of the polling to exercise their franchise," the polling official said.
Though, no untoward incident was reported from Rohtak, some people in booth number 67 complained the electronic voting machine was not working properly and was not registering votes.
Out of 154 villages in Rohtak, nearly 71 have been declared hypersensitive, the DC told.
