Govt likely to table Office of Profit Bill unchanged

A final decision on the bill will be taken at the Union Cabinet meeting on Thursday.

Government is contemplating bringing the controversial Office of Profit bill in its present form in the Monsoon session of Parliament beginning on July 24, turning down the suggestions of President APJ Abdul Kalam for reconsideration, highly placed sources said.

They said a final decision would be taken at the union cabinet meeting on Thursday.

Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Parliamentary Affairs Minister P R Dasmunsi have already held consultations with political parties, including UPA allies, on the issue.
