GUACTA dharna called off
WITH THE assurance of Vice-Chancellor of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University Prof Arun Kumar to change the examination controller, the continuous dharna of Gorakhpur University Affiliated College Teachers? Association came to an end on Friday. On the demand of the GUACTA officer-bearers, the V-C reached the spot, took the memorandum of the teachers and assured them that he was also a teacher and the pride of teachers would be protected at all costs.
WITH THE assurance of Vice-Chancellor of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University Prof Arun Kumar to change the examination controller, the continuous dharna of Gorakhpur University Affiliated College Teachers’ Association came to an end on Friday.
On the demand of the GUACTA officer-bearers, the V-C reached the spot, took the memorandum of the teachers and assured them that he was also a teacher and the pride of teachers would be protected at all costs.
The flexible attitude of Prof Kumar pacified the agitated teachers and within no time the GUACTA office-bearers tool a U-turn and shouted a slogans in favour of the V-C. It is worthy to note that GUACTA office-bearers had levelled serious charges against the V-C on Thursday.
It may recalled here that GUACTA members had boycotted the examination conducted by the university and staged dharna, demanding the cancellation of the recognition of APN Degree College, Hariharpur where they were bashed up by the college students and the teachers when they had made a surprise check as members of the flying squad.
Earlier, MLC Dr YD Singh also reached the dharna site and extended support of Uttar Pradesh Intermediate Teachers’ Association to GUACTA members’ agitation.
He said he had discussed the issue with state president of the association Omprakash Sharma and the issue would be raised in the UP Council on May 8 when the session started.
President of GUACTA Dr Kripashanker Singh claimed that university authorities had virtually agreed to cancel the examination conducted at APN College, Hariharpur on April 27, 28 and 29, violating the order of examination controller of the university. He claimed that the fresh date of examination held on these dates would be announced later.
Dr Singh said that FIR lodged by the college authorities against members of the flying squad would be withdrawn.
He further said that complaints regarding shortcomings in the college necessary for recognition would be probed.
