The deceased, identified as Vivek, a civil engineering student at a college in Ambala, on Monday afternoon hanged himself from a ceiling fan when he was alone in his house, they said.

Vivek was under stress as he felt he did not perform well in his first semester examination, Investigating Officer Vinod Kumar said.

On returning from their uncle’s house in the same neighbourhood, his brother Udit found Vivek hanging after which he was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead, police said.

The body was handed over to his family members after postmortem, they said.
