This order was passed by Justice VK Shukla on a writ petition filed by Suresh Chandra Singh and four others after hearing their counsel Sadhna Upadhya and State counsel.
According to petitioner’s counsel Sadhna Upadhyaya, the inspector general of police, Allahabad, had transferred these constables on the recommendations of the SSP, Allahabad. In their petition, they alleged that the SSP had demanded illegal gratifications from them for cancelling their transfer. Since, the petitioners did not fulfill his demand, they were transferred. Besides, it was alleged that annual transfer order does not mention the name of the petitioners. The transfer of other persons were cancelled by the SSP by taking illegal considerations, they alleged. The SSP accommodated other persons by transferring the petitioners unnecessarily without showing any exigency, they said.
