HC summons sessions court record

TAKING SERIOUS note of granting bail to an accused by the Sessions Court, Shravasti after his bail plea had been rejected by the High Court, Justice Abdul Mateen has summoned the relevant records under sealed cover on February 28. During the course of hearing of a bail petition, filed by accused Dhani Ram, it was revealed that co-accused Gyan Prakash had been granted bail by the Sessions Court, Shravasti on June 6, 2005 after his (Gyan Prakash?s) bail plea (along with Dhani Ram) had been rejected by the Allahabad High Court on May 13, last.

During the course of hearing of a bail petition, filed by accused Dhani Ram, it was revealed that co-accused Gyan Prakash had been granted bail by the Sessions Court, Shravasti on June 6, 2005 after his (Gyan Prakash’s) bail plea (along with Dhani Ram) had been rejected by the Allahabad High Court on May 13, last.

The orders were passed accordingly.

Notices under COC issued
THE SUPERINTENDING and Executive Engineers of the Irrigation Department, Bahraich, Hariraj Singh and Arun Kumar Singh respectively have been issued notices under the Contempt of Courts Act to appear in person on April 21, next, to show cause as to why they would not be punished under the Contempt of Courts Act.

Justice DP Singh of the High Court passed the above orders on a contempt petition filed by one Arvind Kumar Chauhan on the ground that despite the High Court orders, the contemnors had not appointed the petitioner under the dying in harness rule in place of his father (Late) Chandra Pal Singh.

Elected
NOTED lawyer Gopal Narayan Misra has been elected member of the UP Bar Council for the third consecutive term, securing record 4,170 votes. Misra has earlier held the post of the chairman/ vice-chairman of the Bar Council.
