Heroin worth Rs 50 lakh seized, 2 held

The contraband worth Rs 50 lakh in int'l mkt, was to be sold by the accused in big cities, say the UP police.

In a major haul, the police has recovered heroin worth Rs 50 lakh from two persons in Line Bazaar area in Jaunpur.

A police party on Friday intercepted two smugglers near a college in the area and recovered 500 grams of the contraband, Superintendent of police Lalji Shukla said.

The contraband is worth Rs 50 lakh in international market, he said, adding the accused were planning to sell it in big cities.
