Holy Family lift Eugene D?Souza Trophy

HOLY FAMILY Church, Habibganj, on Sunday won the Eugene D?Souza Memorial Football Rolling Trophy defeating St Edmond Church, Campion, 4-2 in the final via tiebreaker. The tournament was organised by Khrist Premalaya Regional Philosophate at St Joseph?s Co-ed School ground.

Both the teams fought well. Though the match seemed under the control of Campion right from the beginning, it failed to open account in the full time. Holy Family that had an outstanding defence foiled attacks of the opponents on every close occasion.

Lavesh, Vicky, Nilesh and Ravi managed to put straight shots into the nets in the penalty shootout helping Holy family to win the tournament.

In the play off for the third place, Infant Jesus, Vrindavan Nagar, defeated St Joseph’s Church, Idgah Hills, 4-0. Sandeep Lakra scored two goals. Villin and Vikas scored one goal each for Infant Jesus.

Chief guest Archbishop of Bhopal Dr Pascal Topno presented the winners’ trophy to Holy Family Church. Special guest Robinson Fernandes presented the first runners-up trophy. Fr Abraham, parish priest of Assumption Parish, presented the second runners-up trophy. Principal of St Joseph’s Co-ed School Fr Maria Stephen, fathers of many churches and others were present on the occasion. Fr Xavier and Fr Albinus Kujur proposed the vote of thanks.
