Honda Siel Cars sales up 26 per cent

Honda Siel Cars India Ltd on Saturday reported a 26 per cent rise in sales for the first half this fiscal to 22,265 units as compared to 17,629 units in April-September 2004-05.

Honda Siel Cars India Ltd on Saturday reported a 26 per cent rise in sales for the first half this fiscal to 22,265 units as compared to 17,629 units in April-September 2004-05.

Sales of its flagship Honda City grew 12 per cent to 3,349 units during September 2005 compared to 2,976 units in September 2004, the company said in a release.

The capacity expansion project at HSCI is in full swing, the company said, adding the construction is expected to be over by early November 2005. The plant shall then have a capacity of 50,000 units from the current 30,000 units.

The company, a joint venture of Honda Motor Co of Japan and Siel Ltd (India), also crossed the 40,000 milestone in the last 12 months. The company recorded sales of 41,964 units during October 2004-September 2005, an increase of 31 per cent over 32,087 units during October 2003-September 2004.

In cumulative terms, 36,764 units of Honda City were sold in last 12 months, a 33 per cent rise as compared to 27,638 units during the corresponding 12 months of the previous year.
