This has reference to L.M. Singhvi’s article Bringing the House down (August 22). One feels nostalgic about the days when we had leaders like Maulana Azad, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Pt. Nehru, Dr Mookherji and many others who did the nation proud. They constituted an honest leadership working towards unity. The present-day political establishment has lost the battle to provide efficient and good governance.

The restoration of decorum in the House and its dignity requires a two-party system. Academic qualification and administrative experience should be made mandatory for contesting elections. A conglomeration of educationally sound personalities with experience from various fields would be a boon for the House not only to restore its dignity but also to take the nation ahead.
