Over 300 participants from India and abroad began the walk —in teams of four —from the Cauvery Sangama through the rugged terrain to cover 100 km up to Mysore within 48 hours. The teams pledged to raise funds for Oxfam through the trail.

Oxfam aims to collect Rs 1 crore through the Bangalore event. The proceeds would go to various NGOs. Oxfam global ambassador Bose, who also walked for about 30 km, said the programme was focused on seven states — Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Orissa, UP and Uttarakhand — and four social groups, Dalits, tribals, Muslims and women.

Apart from teams from the UK, Hong Kong and Australia, there are three all women’s teams.
