The status report of the case, which the agency submitted to the high court on Thursday, also says this was mentioned by Chatra Ram Deshbandhu, a leader of the Sansi community to which Bhanwari belonged.

Chatra Ram was questioned by the agency after his name was mentioned by Amar Chand.

Amar Chand told interrogators that Chatra Ram had urged him to file a complaint against former minister Mahipal Maderna in connection with Bhanwari's abduction.

Addressing newspersons, Chatra Ram said Amar Chand admitted selling Bhanwari to Sohanlal after the CBI brought them together for counter questioning. The high court, meanwhile, turned down the CBI's request to conduct a narco-analysis test on Amar Chand.
