Vithalbhai Pandya, father of slain BJP leader Haren Pandya, who is contesting Lok Sabha elections against Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani from Gandhinagar constituency, today said that he got an `overwhelming' response from the people during campaigning.

"People appreciated that I was contesting against Advaniji", Pandya told reporters here.

Former Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel cast his vote at Rajkot city and told mediapersons that he got a good response from the people.

When asked about the power crisis in the farming sector and if the issue would affect the BJP in Gujarat during polling, Patel said, "during my tour I noticed that it was an issue....A small one. But farmers of the state know that the BJP has solved the power and other issues in a more efficient manner than what the Congress party did during its tenure".

Earlier in the day, Union Minister of State for Home Harin Pathak, who is contesting from Ahmedabad, cast his vote in Maninagar while state BJP president Rajendrasinh Rana, contesting from Bhavnagar Lok Sabha seat, cast his vote at the city itself.
