IAF airlifts 695 stranded passengers

Indian Air Force (IAF) airlifted 695 passengers from Leh and Kargil to Jammu and Srinagar on Friday. IAF carried out special sorties of IL 76 cargo aircraft for airlifting the civilians.

Indian Air Force (IAF) airlifted 695 passengers from Leh and Kargil to Jammu and Srinagar on Friday. IAF carried out special sorties of IL 76 cargo aircraft for airlifting the civilians.

225 of those stranded were flown to Leh from Jammu, 240 from Srinagar to Leh, while 100 from Jammu to Kargil, 55 from Kargil to Jammu, 34 from Kargil to Srinagar and 41 from Srinagar to Kargil.

IAF has this month, till now, airlifted 1,935 stranded passengers.

It will carry out another sortie, subject to weather condition, of the AN 32 Courier Service between Kargil-Jammu and Kargil-Srinagar on Saturday.

The passengers have been directed to contact the liaison officers concerned for further information.
