Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will offer foreign language courses in Japanese, Germany, French, Chinese and Arabic from the coming academic session.
“We will start the courses from the 2007-08 session. Expert committees have been constituted for initiating the preparatory work for starting the courses,” IGNOU Vice-Chancellor V N Rajasekharan Pillai said.

The courses, offered as certificate and diploma programmes, will help people who are in the field of international trade, he said.
IGNOU will collaborate with the Goethe Institute of Germany for developing the study material for the course in German.
Similarly, it will work with Japanese and French Embassies also. The varsity is in touch with experts in Arabic language.
