IMT Manesar gets power boost

The Industrial Model Township (IMT), Manesar got a shot in the arm on Saturday with a new 20 MVA power transformer becoming operational at its recently commissioned substation.
The Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructural Development Corporation (HSIIDC) had instated the 66 kVA substation in January at IMT’s newly-built Sector 8, but only a single transformer had been started.
The substation is slated to service more than 150 new subscribers in the area.
According to HSIIDC officials, 150 odd connection demands in the area have not been met.
IMT Manesar has nearly 2,000 plots spread across 3,500 acre that houses major automobile, garment, packaging and IT industries apart from residential projects. As power plays truant, industrial units have to use their own generator sets.
At present, only 60% industrial plots have functioning units. However, when all plots are occupied by industrial units, the township may require 328 MW of energy.
