Suspended deputy inspector general of police, Sunil Paraskar – accused of raping a 26-year-old woman – has been booked in another case, this time for outraging the modesty of a woman.
The Charkop police booked Paraskar and his brother Ravi, after a case was filed by Ravi's tenant filed ?The complainant, a 27-year-old woman, is a tenant in Ravi's flat, where she has stayed with her husband for 10 months. Ravi has had petty disputes over the apartment’s maintenance, the police said.
On Saturday, Paraskar and Ravi allegedly called the woman and her husband to Ravi’s Kandivali (West) apartment, locked them up and used derogatory language against them, the complaint said.
“We received the complaint late on Saturday. The woman has pressed charges of wrongful confinement and outraging modesty. We filed an FIR against Paraskar and his brother under relevant sections of the IPC,” said Aanand Koli, senior inspector, Charkop police station.
According to the police, the most recent dispute between Ravi and the tenants was over changing the apartment’s window shields.
“Eight days ago, Ravi submitted an application saying the woman’s husband made threatening phone calls to him and allegedly warned Ravi of dire consequences, if they are evicted,” said Bhimraj Khandale, inspector, Charkop police. The police will now question Ravi and Paraskar and record the statements of the woman and her husband.
“We are likely to call Paraskar and his brother for questioning on Monday,” said an officer, requesting anonymity.
