India will take up the issue of existence of terrorist camps in Bangladesh after next month's general elections.
India will take up the issue of existence of terrorist camps in Bangladesh after next month's general elections in that country, Union Home Secretary VK Duggal said in Kolkata on Tuesday.
"We have had several discussions on the issue with the Bangladesh government. We have also given them evidence. But they are denying it all. We will take up the matter again after the general elections in Bangladesh. Now is not the time," Duggal told a press conference in Kolkata.
He said the second phase of fencing work along the Indo-Bangladesh border would be completed in March, 2007 as scheduled, he said.
Asked whether India would request Bhutan for holding a joint operation against the terrorist outfits reportedly regrouping after being flushed out of that country a couple of years ago, Duggal said he had no such reports till date.
"Bhutan is our friend. I will visit Bhutan next month," he said.
He said he met West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and state Chief Secretary Amit Kiran Deb earlier in the day and "I am told that West Bengal is filling up 5,000 vacant posts in the police....This will go right up to the police station level so that the Station House Officer can identify the local rotten fish that is creating a problem in the area.
