With this new flight, introduced to coincide with the summer schedule of the airline, the total frequency between Kuala Lumpur and Delhi has gone up to 14 and the seat capacity has increased by 2,030 in the sector.
The airlines will operate Airbus A320 flights on its new route.
Already, Indian Airlines operates seven flights a week between Chennai and Kuala Lumpur.
"The demand has always outstripped supply in south-east Asia," Indian Airlines spokesman Ashok Sharma told IANS.
"In fact, the summer schedule 2005 will see a quantum jump in Indian Airlines' international operations - from 151 flights to 178 per week in 18 destinations," he said.
South Asia forms a major chunk of Indian Airlines' international operations with 70 flights per week, including services to Singapore and Bangkok from Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad, besides Delhi-Singapore and Gaya-Bangkok, Kolkata-Bangkok and Kolkata-Yangon.
Private domestic airlines Jet Airways and Air Sahara are also expected to commence their international operations, including services to Kuala Lumpur by July.
