Indian Coast Guard conducts coastal clean-up off Kerala
Personnel of Coast Guard ships and establishments of Kerala, Mahe and Lakshadweep region, in coordination with educational institutions and the Indian Navy, on Saturday cleaned beaches across Kerala as part of "International Coastal Clean-Up day-2009."

Coast Guard sources said personnel from Coast Guard District headquarters No 4, Fort Kochi, Indian Coast Guard ship 'Samar' and 'Varruna' and units here joined hands with those from INS Dronacharya for the campaign at Fort Kochi beach.
Around 500 Coast Guard/Naval personnel, along with volunteers from civil organisations and school children participated in the joint campaign, they said
The campaign was also undertaken simultaneously at Kovalam beach at Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode beach and Katcheri Jetty at Kavaratti in Lakshadweep, they said.
