AS A part of the effort to support Indian students, the British Government offers around 200 scholarships a year to study in the UK under programmes such as Chevening and Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Programme (CSFP).
Chevening, the UK Government’s flagship scholarship scheme is aimed at future leaders, opinion formers and decision makers. The India programme began in 1987 and has supported over 1900 Indians to date. It is now the FCO’s second largest scholarship programme globally. India programme comprise of a range of short-term tailor made professional courses tenable at various higher education institutions in the UK.
The aim of the British Chevening Scholarship is to offer opportunity to deserving Indian students and professionals, who wish to study or train in the UK, by providing financial assistance.
The two schemes for this scholarship are as under:
Scheme A: Long-term (Open) scholarship for open sustainable development, Open economic governance, finance and public administration, Open science and innovation and Indian friends of London School of Economics shared scholarships.
Scheme B: Short-term (Professional) scholarship for Gurukul senior scholarships in leadership and excellence, Young Indian print journalists programme, Young Indian broadcast journalists programme.
