IT WAS a close shave for constable Govardhan Mishra who was pushed from the first floor of the court complex on Tuesday. But the incident clearly indicated that there was some laxity on the part of the administration in dealing with criminals like Pravesh Pandey who carried a reward of Rs 2500 on his head.

But the incident clearly indicated that there was some laxity on the part of the administration in dealing with criminals like Pravesh Pandey who carried a reward of Rs 2500 on his head.
The authorities have failed to provide a proper escort with the hardcore criminals who are under trial. Only one constable was escorting the prisoners. Besides, it indicated the poor maintenance of the court complex, especially the bathrooms. The doors, fitted in the bathrooms, were not properly installed, leading to the incident.
Officials of the UP Rajkiya Nirman Nigam, which constructed the complex, said the maintenance of the building was handed over to the judicial department.
They had nothing to do with the broken doors and poor maintenance.
According to the lawyers, the condition of the bathrooms was pathetic but the authorities failed to take the note of it.
Mishra thanked god after his miraculous escape from the jaws of death. He said, “I was pushed from a four-metre high floor, and I landed on the ground filled with dirty water.” Mishra lives alone in the Kakdev police station in an official accommodation, and his family stays in Fatehpur district.
