"Jones strained his left thigh while batting on Thursday and it is highly unlikely he will play in Guwahati," England media manager James Avery told Reuters on Friday.

Jones made a gutsy 49 in sapping humidity in the fourth one-dayer, which the hosts won by four wickets to take an unassailable 4-0 lead in the seven-match series.

Matt Prior replaced him behind the stumps when India batted.

Injury has already robbed England of several key players, including captain Michael Vaughan.
