The injured boy identified as Deepu, 13, son of Bhagwan Bhardwaj and resident of Bhikharipur, was rushed to the BHU hospital where his condition is stated to be serious.

Meanwhile, some anti-social elements set the truck afire. On Tuesday morning, the boy was going to a hospital on bicycle with cousin to get the plaster of his (the victim) fractured left hand removed. The duo fell after a truck hit them and then truck driver sped away crushing Deepu’s leg. On seeing it, locals chased and intercepted the truck. The mob started thrashing the driver. He ran and took shelter at the nearby police picket.
