Inspector suspended for refusing rape complaint

An Inspector of woman's police station in Mysore has been kept under suspension for allegedly refusing to register a complaint of rape of a woman of Italian origin.

The Italian woman had gone to the police station with medical report but even then, the woman police inspector refused to register a complaint, police said.

Following this, the victim met Mysore Police Commissioner Praveen Sood and explained to him about the incident. The Commissioner ordered an inquiry and acting on the inquiry report, the inspector was suspended, police said.

Meanwhile, a police jeep driver who allegedly committed the rape at Hunsur in the district last week, is absconding, and a case has been registered. A special squad has been formed to catch him.
