Irfan made it easy

We were naturally relieved to register our sixth win on Friday and credit for that victory against the Daredevils should go to Brett Lee, the Man of the Match, and Irfan Pathan, for his allround display.
Irfan, like his brother, is a prodigiously talented cricketer and a childhood spent playing against Yusuf Pathan in the backyard of their house must have helped him acquire a fierce competitive streak.
To beat Deccan and Chennai we’ll need to show the same intensity, discipline and efficiency with the ball. Like Delhi, both teams are very dangerous with the bat.
As for our batting, we need to have big partnerships at the start of the innings. We need that extra stability so that clean hitters like Yuvraj Singh and Irfan can cut loose.
Irfan made my job so much easier on Friday night. We had lost some momentum against some good bowling. Irfan, however took all the pressure off me with some big hits. Just when Delhi sniffed victory, he settled the issue with a 11-ball 21. Alongside Brett, Irfan also contributed with the ball. We have bowled well in patches but on too many occasions we have let sides get away in the final overs.
The Kings XI Punjab have learnt a lot this year. It has not been an easy year. We have had a rough run with injuries and, especially at the start, we had some misfortune with the weather. But I think we’ve battled the odds.We have now reached a stage where the team’s experience could prove invaluable.
