'Is it resilience or indifference?'

I saw "We the people" by Barkha Dutt on NDTV with interest. One thing came out that the so-called "resilience" of Mumbai, though touted and hyped by media is a big question mark. People who are forced get back to work opened up and said it is their compulsion. It is about time Mumbaikars to do a bit of soul searching and see the people who are "indifferent" to what happens to a common person. Identify them. Let their indifference not get glorified as "resilience" and "spirit of bouncing back" of Mumbaikars.

I saw 1993 blasts. The worst one in Worli was within 100 yards from my office. I heard about the July 11 serial blasts.

Then media got some thing to sell. I saw "We the people" by Barkha Dutt on NDTV with interest. One thing came out that the so-called "resilience" of Mumbai, though touted and hyped by media is a big question mark.

People who are forced get back to work opened up and said it is their compulsion. What is termed as resilience reflects compulsion of fairly large section of people and the apathy of affluent section (a significant percentage) for others and a degree of resilience in the true sense for a small section of people.

It is about time Mumbaikars to do a bit of soul searching and see that the people who are "indifferent" to what happens to a common person. Identify them. Let their indifference not get glorified as "resilience" and "spirit of bouncing back".
