The GPP's withdrawal came a day after Congress candidate Shweta Bhatt, wife of suspended IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt, appealed to all opposition parties to withdraw their respective candidates.

"In solidarity with her appeal, we have decided to withdraw our candidate and asked our workers to support to her," GPP leader and former CM Suresh Mehta said.
