Vohra, also Chairman of Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), was accompanied by prominent environmentalist and SASB member Sunita Narain, officials said.
The Governor spent over three hours at Nunwan Base Camp, 115 kms from here, and discussed the arrangements being made for the yatris on both the traditional Pahalgam route and the shortest Baltal route.
He also had discussions with Power, Public Health, Roads and Buildings officials about the facilities required for the smooth conduct of the yatra.
Vohra directed the CEO of the Board and other authorities concerned to ensure completion of all works by June 20.
The Governor also reviewed the progress on cleaning of the entire area by collection of solid waste.
With importance to be given to preservation of ecology and environment in the yatra area, the Governor said the technology to achieve this objective has been upgraded for Yatra 2010.
