Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire again in Poonch early on Friday morning, targeting forward posts and civilian areas along the LoC.
Firing started in the Sabzian sector around 3:30am , following which Indian soldiers returned fire. The exchange of fire was still continuing when reports last came in.
This is the fourth ceasefire in the sector over the past three days. On Thursday evening Pakistani troops fired with automatic weapons, rocket projectile grenades and mortar bombs, forcing the Indian side to retaliate.
On Wednesday, Pakistani Rangers had targeted the same area with heavy firing, injuring three civilians.
There have been at least 13 ceasefire violations across the LoC and International Border by Pakistani troops over the past week.
This comes at a time when India have captured a Pakistani militant, Mohammad Naveed Yakub, following an attack on a BSF convoy on the Jammu-Srinagar highway in Udhampur two days ago.
The National Security Advisers (NSA) of the two countries are reportedly set to meet for talks on August 23, where the focus would be on combating cross-border terror.
