The highway was reopened for traffic between Jammu and Srinagar and stranded passenger vehicles, mostly Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs), were cleared in the morning, police officials said.

Trucks and tankers carrying essential goods to Kashmir valley will be allowed to move towards their destinations only in the afternoon in order to avoid any jam on the highway, they said.

There will, however, be no traffic from Srinagar to Jammu on Wednesday, they said.

Movement in the mountainous terrains of snow-bound Patnitop and Jawahar Tunnel is slow in view of slippery road conditions.

Border Roads Organisation (BRO) had last night cleared the highway of snow for resuming traffic partially.
