Jain sadhvi molested, assaulted in MP; one held

A Jain sadhvi was allegedly molested and assaulted by her neighbour after she was kidnapped from her father's house at Mau town in the district by unidentified persons, police said. The sadhvi suffered three fractures and is said to be in a serious condition.

A Jain sadhvi was allegedly molested and assaulted by her neighbour after she was kidnapped from her father's house at Mau town in the district by unidentified persons, police said on Saturday.

The incident occurred on March 18 when unidentified persons abducted the sadhvi from her father's house and took her to the place of one Ashok Dhobi who stays nearby, they said.

Dhobi was arrested on Saturday for alleged molestation and brutal assault on the sadhvi who suffered three fractures and is said to be in a serious condition.

Meanwhile, a Jain Samaj spokesperson expressed concern over the brutal attack. "I have forwarded a letter to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan through the naib tahsildar regarding the incident", said the spokesperson, Lalit Jain.

Dhobi has been booked under various IPC sections pertaining to molestation, abduction, attempt to murder and criminal intimidation.

"We will spare none and soon arrest the remaining culprits involved in the incident", said IG (Chambal range) S M Afzal.
