Hollywod heartthrob Jake Gyllenhaal has resolved to take a break from acting to finish his college education.

The Oscar-nominated-actor dropped out of university to pursue his Hollywood dreams and now that he has established himself, he wants to go back to studies, reported Daily Mirror online.

"I dropped out of Columbia University in 2000 after two years of studying Eastern religions and philosophy to concentrate on acting. But I have always wanted to finish my degree," said Gyllenhaal.

The 29-year-old actor who recently split with longtime girlfriend, actress Reese Witherspoon is reportedly trying to rekindle the romance.

It was previously reported that the pair split because Reese, who is divorced from actor Ryan Phillippe, didn't want to get married.

"Jake would marry her tomorrow, but Reese doesn't want to go there yet, even though he would like to," a source close to the couple had said.
