Jammu and Kashmir governor visits Amarnath shrine

Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra today visited the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir and reviewed arrangements for devotees during the ongoing pilgrimage.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra on Saturday visited the Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir and reviewed arrangements for devotees during the ongoing pilgrimage.

Vohra, chairman of the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, also visited the Panjtarni base camp and inspected facilities for pilgrims, an official spokesman said.

The Governor arrived at the holy shrine in the morning and reviewed arrangements for smooth conduct of the yatra, the the spokesman said.

The pilgrimage was suspended for two days on July 28 and 29 following torrential rains.

A large number of pilgrims had been stranded at Baltal and Pahalgam camps due to inclement weather.

The annual pilgrimage commenced on July one and would culminate on August 24.
