Jamuna flays authorising flag hoisting by DCs
LEADER OF Opposition in the State Assembly Jamuna Devi has criticised the State Government’s decision authorising district collectors to unfurl national flag in 13 districts. She alleged that bureaucrats were ruling the roost in the Gaur’s regime and even BJP MLAs felt suffocated under the weight of bureaucracy.
She said that in the past whenever number in the Council of Ministers was less than the number of districts, district panchayat presidents used to unfurl the national flag on Republic Day. Jamuna Devi said that dalit and tribal women had unfurled the national flag at several places during the erstwhile Congress rule.
She pointed out that of the 13 districts where collectors have been asked to unfurl the national flag this Republic Day, six have women district panchayat presidents, and most of them are from the backward classes, dalits and tribals.
