One of the very few veterans in a squad full of exciting youth - but Srinath is still a very important part of the set-up.
The paceman has played in three World Cups and has performed admirably.
He made his international one-day debut against Pakistan where he took the wicket of none other than Wasim Akram.
Srinath made his Test debut in 1991 too, this time against Australia.
Despite India losing heavily, the 'Karnataka Express' took three wickets, including those of opener Geoff Marsh and Mark Waugh.
Arguably his finest moment to date came in November 1996 when he took six for 21 in the first Test against South Africa.
Srinath has endured a number of shoulder injuries and operations and has lost some of his pace.
But his experience and ability to bowl good line and length will be crucial to India.
