Jawan killed by lightning

An army jawan was killed and two others wounded when lightning struck a patrol party in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir early on Thursday, official sources said.

An army jawan was killed and two others wounded when lightning struck a patrol party in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir early on Thursday, official sources said.

The patrol team was conducting a search operation in Ithni forest belt of Rajouri district when they were struck by lightning, sources said.

Sepoy Mohmmad Azam Khan of 13 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) died on the spot and two other jawans - Havaldar Jasbir Singh and Sepoy Parvez Ahmed were injured.

The injured were airlifted to military hospital for treatment.
